Dear all,

We would like to thank you for the hospitality and the fabulous meals we received during our stay at Tiger Rock. We found Mohan and his team very capable of making us feel at home with their personal service (even better than the Pangkor Laut resort we visited later).

When we return to Malaysia, we will surely consider coming back to Tiger Rock.

Best regards, Shangita Bose & Dirkjan Hupke

Dear Mohan, Bavanni, Parrthi and Seela,

I hope you all had a wonderful Deepavali! We wanted to thank you for your hospitality and service during our stay. We really enjoyed the welcome and relaxing atmosphere in Tiger Rock.

Bavanni’s splendid dishes have been mentioned already a lot of times in this guestbook but now we can tell from our own experience that it’s indeed true!! We will need some extra exercise in the gym after spending some time in Tiger Rock!

Mohan, thanks for your educational stories on Malaysian culture, your island tour and your explanation of meditation (and of course for your special mango and coffee-icecream desert!)

Besides that you have really taken excellent care of us during our stay. Even after we had checked out, how amazing to receive the sandwiches and drinks for our cartrip back to Kuala Lumpur! We couldn’t get more spoilt than this....

Parrthi, you really surprised us when you drove us to the beach. We forgot to take water and asked you where we could buy it. Then you told us with a great smile that you packed a bag with towels and water. How amazing again...

Seela, thank you for the breakfasts and keeping our beautiful room nice and clean.

You are super team! Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

Kind regards Rogier and Karen and

smileDear Rebecca,

We just returned from our holiday in Pangkor, and we would like to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at Tiger Rock. I don’t have to tell you that the resort is a jewel for its setting in the jungle, for the beautiful pool, for your lovely art and the lovely open common spaces, we really enjoyed the open room up the hill in the evenings and in a rainy lazy afternoon, as well as the library and of course the dinning room. It was nice that the way things are set up we were able to interact with other families and exchange experiences, and the children could have fun together. Our children loved the jungle, enjoyed seeing monkeys and spotted one hornbill, and we had a lot of family fun playing tennis (sorry, we left a ball stuck on top of the fence and were unable to bring it down…).

But what really made the difference were, as usual, the people, and we have rarely felt as welcome and spoilt as we did in Tiger Rock by Mohan and his team. There was a happy and festive mood the whole time, which did not subside even after the tree branch fell on the kitchen and the whole team was really stressed to get everything back to work properly as soon as possible. Everyone went out of their way to accommodate us, always with a genuine smile. Mohan took us to the nicest beaches, but what we really, really enjoyed was the way he set up the trip around the island, with the introduction to the Chinese and Hindu temple ceremonies. We have seen many temples this trip, coming from Myanmar, but personally experiencing each ceremony was a very different and special thing. And then there was Bavani cooking, and I tell you, we were dreaming of the next day meals the night before. She is a really accomplished chef, and everything we tasted was very fresh, very delicious and felt homely. This is such a rarity to find when travelling.

So we really want to congratulate you, Mohan and the whole team for the lovely and rare place you all made of Tiger Rock Resort. We just wish it was closer!

Our warmest wishes to everyone,

Astrid, João, Hugo and Rodrigo

Dear Rebecca and David,

Sarah and I stayed at Tiger Rock last November (2009) for a couple of days (booked through Ethos Travel in London), and since then we have never stopped thinking and taking about the place. The one thing we have always felt bad about was that we didn’t leave or send any feedback. This was not because we had any reservations about Tiger Rock, far from it, but it had all already been said, and we couldn’t think of any superlatives that had not been previously used. And guest books that just say the same thing over and over tend not be the most entertaining of reads.

However, now I have some original feedback to send you - which consists of my sister and her husband, Jean and Geoff Paul! They will be staying at Tiger Rock in early August. We raved about it so much, that they thought they had better experience it for themselves. The nice thing is they are travelling to England from Australia especially for our wedding. And to add to the tale, we think Mohan and Bavanni must have special powers, here’s a photo that was taken during our visit - but the odd thing is that we only got engaged several months later! I do remember it made me chuckle at the time. They must have known something that we didn’t!

I have a principle that I rarely go back to anywhere I have been before on holiday, as there is so much in the world to experience. But we would both happily make Tiger Rock an exception to that rule, and I wouldn’t be surprised if when we next travel to the Far East, our feet will find their way to Pangkor. I do very much hope that Jean and Geoff (who, lucky things, are heading for China Tiger as well) enjoy their stay and the welcome

as much as we did. We will be thinking of them there, and doubtless wishing it was us! With kind regards to you, and to everyone at Tiger Rock who made it all so special for us.

Dear Mohan

Firstly, before boring you with detail, let me thank you and your team for making our stay at Tiger Rock so memorable.  It has taken me some time to think of how to contribute a meaningful comment for you 'visitors’ book'.  This is mainly because, in conventional terms, Tiger Rock is neither a 'resort' nor a 'hotel'.  It lacks the trappings of 'menus', 'cocktail lists', 'dial-up room service' and a 24-hour reception desk.  It benefits immensely from having none of these.  It has no need for menus or 'choice' at mealtimes - having to make such a choice would put an (albeit light) burden of decision making on your guests; far better as it is, to be served what has been created with you (the guest) in mind - and to be able to relax in the knowledge that you will be privileged to sample food of outstanding quality.  What a lucky man you are to live and work in such an idyllic setting and to have such a truly talented cook for a wife!

Tiger Rock is a truly unique place.  I remember other contributors to your visitors' book have commented upon the spiritual aspect to the place.  I also must admit that for some reason the words 'Dharma' and 'Zen' did figure in my thoughts when staying with you.

I send you my very sincere thanks and best wishes to you, your family and the rest of the team. Christine and I hope to return one day.
