Bavanni's Cooking Bavanni is the our wonderful chef at Tiger Rock. Married to Mohan, our managing caretaker, Bavanni is a true natural cook who with all the fresh seafood and ingredients available on Pangkor, conjures up some of the best food you will ever eat. This is not an exaggeration.

Bavanni's natural talent, combined with her long experience as a chef works magic and provides a large variety of dishes that retain their individual delicate flavours; from the island, Bavanni worked for 14 years with a local island hotel, Seaview, and cooked a menu that covered all styles- Chinese, Malay, Indian and Colonial recipes. Bavanni and Mohan also work together to come up with their own special recipes using only fresh ingredients that are available in the market on the day itself. It is all a team effort to provide guests with a real taste of what is really, wonderfully home cooked Malaysian flavours.

Bavanni will also provide the most delicious vegetarian menus and can also cater for gluten free meals. Please let us know if you have any particular food allergies. Children's meals can be provided for separately.

Some of the Tiger Rock favourites are Bavanni's fish curries, chicken curries, her wonderful masala tosai's, nasi lemak, gula Melaka, steamed fish Chinese style, tempura vegetables, deep fried calamari in tempura batter, lemon chicken, pisang goreng, drunken prawns, soft shell crabs, homemade chilly sauce, fish stuffed with sambal, lemang, fish with bunga kantan, fried chicken in pandan leaves, nasi goreng, mee goreng and kuey teow soup! Mealtimes are always a surprise because at Tiger Rock there is no menu, the dishes are put in front of you, a feast for your eyes and stomach!

Please note: To our Muslim guests we serve only halal meat and we use separate pots for cooking. We are a private home and so do not have any 'halal' certification.
